Submit Your Tip Here:Here are my first tips:![]() Summary:- Dawn / Dusk Detection- Using the transceiver as an applicance module - Setting up a camera network - The right location for your motion sensor - Get the most out of your sensor's range ![]() It’s a good idea to set up dawn and dusk detection on the ActiveEye motion sensor that controls safety and security lighting around your property. The Passive Infrared motion sensor will tell your lights when it’s getting dark outside and automatically turn them on and then back on again when it gets light. Here’s how it works: When the photo cell detects the change from light to dark, the ActiveEye motion sensor sends an On command to your lights. When it detects the change from dark to light, it sends an Off command. And because the lights set to the dawn/dusk function are at a different frequency than your motion activated lights, they won’t be disturbed by movement. Unless your motion sensor “thinks” its dawn or dusk when it isn’t. ![]() Make the most of your system by using the Transceiver Module as an Appliance Module too. Your basic pack has a Transceiver with an AC plug in the bottom of it. Use the module to control an extra lamp with your motion sensor by setting the module to the same house and unit codes as your motion sensor. I plug in a table lamp inside that lets me know when someone is moving around outside. ![]() Turn your NightWatch Low Light camera into a motion activated monitoring system for the entire perimeter of your home. XCam2 cameras are designed to be used in groups of 4. The groups of 4 are set to codes 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, or 13-16. The Addressable Power Supplies are designed so that if their code is received they turn on, but if any other code (in their group of 4) is received, they turn off. This ensures that only one camera is ever on at the same time. Any code outside their group of 4 is ignored. So if you turn on camera 1, cameras 2, 3, and 4 turn off. If you turn on camera 2, cameras 1, 3 and 4 turn off. ![]() Typically, I suggest placing ActiveEye Motion Sensors at a height of 6 ft. from the ground. It’s also a good idea to place them in an area with a broad range view. For example, I mounted my motion sensor above our gutter. It’s close to the top of the house, but facing down a path where someone would have to walk near our cars. ![]() What I do for best results is place motion sensors at a 45 degree angle to whatever pathway I’d like to monitor. Sounds counterintuitive, I know, but it makes your motion sensors act faster. Here’s why: motion sensors are better at seeing objects passing across them than coming toward them. So if you aim the sensor directly up a walkway, motion will be more difficult to detect because the approaching intruder is walking directly up to the sensor instead of passing across the viewing field. Try to create a scene where the intruder walks past the motion sensor, not up to it.

![]() NexTag ReviewDate: Apr 2, 2006 Rated by: stol"I've purchased a variety of products from X10 building my dream automation and security system. Each and EVERY ORDER is delivered so fast I am always surprised it gets here so soon. One time I called customer service to ask a question about my order and they not only knew the answers without having to put me on hold to "check with my supervisor," they answered me immediately AND they even looked up any upcoming or recent sales to see if they could save me any more money on my order. It was awesome! I ended up getting my order changed to include a free item included in a new ad starting the next day. I was told I would have got it anyway since my order was shipping the day it was offered. That's nice to know and overall X10 has been awesome to buy from. I really like the products, the X10 website has all the info on everything there, the staff know all the answers and are more than helpful and with so many deals and packages to choose from they always know the best one for your needs. I trust X10 to give me the best deals and to sell me just what I need, not a package of stuff I won't use some of. Some companies make you buy a whole package just to get one of the parts you want knowing the other stuff is useless to you. Not at X10! They let you build your own packages if that's what you need! Thanks Stol" |
